Several components inside the laser printer are common to all electrostatic printers. Others are unique to the laser printer.
The printer's own ~motherboard~ controls the actions of the other components. The drum is a cylinder coated with a photosensitive material which can be electrically charged by a laser. An optical array of lenses, focuses the laser and compensates for its movement across the drum. A ~toner~ cartridge holds toner which is transferred to the drum, and from there, to the paper. |Corona wires| are used to erase the drum before the next printing. Finally, heated rollers fuse the toner particles to the paper as they carry the printed page to the output tray.
